Yet Another Curveball

Yet another curveball comes my way.

Yeah, this is absolutely one of those vaguebook posts, but whatever.

This week has already been one for the books, and it's only Tuesday. Where do I even go from here? There's not really much I can say right now, but maybe someday I'll be able to talk about it.

On a much less cryptic note, I'm finally getting to the point where I can start posting artwork here and over on Instagram. My biggest concern is theft. The internet is going to internet, and there's only so much you can do to stop people from taking your work.

I think my biggest hurdle right now is just sitting down and resizing everything. I definitely don't need to be uploading massive, high-resolution files. That's basically rolling out the welcome mat for anyone who wants to steal my stuff. Maybe one evening this week I can buckle down and get a batch of images ready to go.

Honestly, though? All I really want to do this week is sit in the hot tub. Not even as a hot tub. I just want to use it like a little backyard pool because it's been so flipping hot outside.

What I really need is some shade over the deck.

Ever since the two big old trees came down, the backyard has turned into a frying pan. The house gets hotter, the deck gets hotter, and from about noon until six in the evening it's just miserable. We do have an umbrella, and it helps... but it's still an umbrella. It shades one very specific spot, and unless you're willing to orbit around it all afternoon, it's not exactly a solution.

I've been kicking around the idea of asking the landlord if we could install a couple of anchor points on the house for a shade sail. Maybe stretch it over toward the one remaining tree and make a big triangle of shade. I don't know. I'm still just spitballing ideas.

I do know one thing, though. The pop-up canopies we've tried haven't stood a chance. The wind has absolutely destroyed every single one of them.

I'll figure something out. I usually do.
